An Honest Review:
Vegan Palace... a hometown goodie packed with flavor, variety, and options for all. Located inside of My Cocina in Streamwood, IL, Vegan Palace is a fully vegan menu curated and featured by the management crew of My Cocina. My partner and I have visited this place many times before coming for this blog, and we were so happy to find this place so close to home. If you live nearby or are in town, definitely give this place a sit and this menu a try. The food is truly special. We had to add it onto the blog to make sure that others know about it as well, because many of the vegan menu items are too good to pass up! The restaurant staff is friendly, and the managers are always very excited to talk about the vegan menu and the new items that they have added to the menu. Their vegan menu is a balance of fresh, authentic, and reaches on the edge of daring at times.
For this visit in particular, it had been a few months since we had been because of our visits to other restaurants. We noticed there are some new items on the menu! First, we started with house-made complimentary chips and salsa, and ordered two Agua Nopals (Green water/Cactus water), which were so entirely refreshing. Our favorite appetizer is the Fried Green Tomatoes, so we got an order of those as well as a new item on the menu- the King Tostada! The server highly recommended it to us, and it was very fresh and delicious- a perfect treat that won't weigh you down! We tried the new Blackened Shrimp Taco, along with our favorite taco at Vegan Palace- the Beyond Birria taco. The vegan shrimp was surprisingly strong and fishy, and reminded me of the texture of a Trumpet Oyster mushroom. The Beyond Birria taco blew us both away as always, especially with the little cup of vegan consommé to dip it into. Our main dish was the Beyond Steak Fajitas, which were fresh and delicious, and to wrap it all up we tried their new dessert item- Mango Cheesecake! The server let us know that the Mango Cheesecake is a very popular item, and I couldn't agree more- not only was that the best slice of vegan cheesecake I have ever had, but it was the best slice of cheesecake I have had in general. It was light, fruity, cheesy, creamy, and sugary with little sugar crystals embedded into the crust. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for good, authentic, vegan Mexican food and a good place to unwind and receive great service.
